RELATIONSHIP OFFICER TRADE FINANCE - (1 POSITION) TPB Bank PLC seeks to appoint dedicated, self-motivated and highly organized Relationship Officer Trade Finance (1 position) to join the Directorate of  Retail and Business Banking team.
DIRECT REPORTING LINE : Senior Manager of Trade Finance
LOCATION : Dar es salaam

INDIRECT REPORTING LINE : Director of Retail Business Banking

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • Assist in handling trade finance operations and documentation to make full compliance with the internal standards and external regulatory requirements
  • Assist in reviewing loan documents and liaise with internal and external parties to ensure proper and efficient delivery of Trade Finance duties.
  • Assist in reviewing daily system credit monitoring and management of standard reports for management decision 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Responsible for identifying trade finance and working capital facilities opportunities by working in close cooperation with TPB            
  • Responsible on growing the bank’s wallet share within the existing client base and potential future clients as well as mitigating customer attrition.
  • Act as a liaison officer with regards to the operations related to the Government and Agency Business proceedings.
  • Participate in origination and structuring trade finance and working capital solutions for strategic clients by preparing presentations, pitching solutions, drafting terms sheets and coordinating with risk and legal in disbursement processes.
  • Participate on deposit mobilization efforts done by TPB BANK PLC in close corporation with all Business development units and 
  • Responsible in monitoring performance of existing SME clients on their daily, monthly and quarterly deposits and on their credit facilities with the bank. (Special Monitoring efforts on Overdrafts  and  Invoice discounting facilities). 
  • Participate in innovating solutions to motivate SME clients to use TPB BANK PLC Business Banking Products in increasing banks revenues.
  • Participate in relationship management works which include handling SME customer queries and ensure they obtain the best banking experience with TPB BANK PLC.
  • Ensure monthly reports and reminders to branches are prepared on all collected and uncollected revenues related to trade finance products.  l Participate in the preparation of credit appraisals for Business unit clients with and without trade finance products requests.  
  • Ensure all correspondence related to Trade finance products are adhered to within a reasonable time.
  • Ensure compliance on filling trade finance products forms as well as in their preparations by all the stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the Banking Operations department to ensure Letter of Credit transactions are done according to TPB BANK PLC  requirements and agreed on terms and conditions with the client.
  • Ensure appropriate correspondence are done with partner banks, clients and branches on Trade Finance Products transactions. 
  • Review, evaluate and manage risks to ensure adherence to banks risk framework and regulations for all the duties performed under the business unit department.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the superiors.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Sociology, Economics, Marketing  Business Administration, Actuarial Science or any other related discipline. 
  • Good knowledge in Trade Finance and liaison operations to Government and  Agency Business with at least 3 years.
  • High level of integrity.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and minimal supervision.
  • Personable and able to relate to people at all levels.

REPORTING LINE: Branch Manager/Assistant Branch Manager
LOCATION: Upcountry

POSITION OBJECTIVE

  1. This position is to engage, manage and work directly to improve the activities of the branch credit operations.
  2. To evaluate, provide analysis, conclusion, and recommendations to determine credit lines and communicate this information to customers and other team members of the branch.
  3. Engaged in conducting credit investigations/visitations and collecting delinquent accounts and answerable all branch credit-related issues to the branch manager and senior management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist branch manager in the creation of credit risk management environment of acceptable quality, in terms of established credit guidelines.
  • Administer branch credit application and ensure that direct reports are producing high quality of credit application files
  • Maintain branch low portfolio Non-performance rates ensuring post disbursement follow up is being done and customer actively operates their accounts accordingly.
  • Assist Branch Manager in site visitations and Branch Credit Meetings and make sure that respective reports are produced timely for decision making.
  • Customer acquisition by actively soliciting potential clients
  • Managing the branch loan portfolio by ensuring close follow-ups of their respective customers.
  • Directly work with customers to deepen existing relationships through the analyses of needs and provision of products and services.
  • Analyses and reviews the quality of potential and existing business to ensure maximum profitability.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all actual and attempted customer interactions.
  • Conduct customer meetings that have defined call objectives, desired outcomes and a well-constructed plan.
  • After consideration of individual case merits, recommend credits applications for approval to the branch manager and other relevant authorities.
  • Manages credit quality standards through effective management of risk according to the Credit manuals and policy.
  • Scrutinize loan applications, to review feasibility reports and prepare appraisal reports and accompanying memorandum for the action of by relevant loan sanctioning authority.
  • Verify loan application forms, crosschecking the requirements and advise customers accordingly.
  • Maintain borrower’s files and ensure that all pre-disbursement conditions are fulfilled.
  • Ensure that loan installments from customers are posted into relevant accounts.
  • Follow-ups on non-performing loans/customers that are not paying their loan as per the agreement.
  • Ensure that weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and any other reports on loan portfolio are accurate, complete, and prepared on schedule.
  • Prepare all branch returns and ensure they are in accordance with the credit policy and lending manual.
  • Verify postings of loan administration fees for customers whose loans have been disbursed.
  • Ensure proper filling of customer credit documents and correspondents.
  • Improving the quality of customer’s data by ensuring all customers data is captured as per KYC set rules and regulations.
  • Analyse delinquent accounts and prepare report on highest risk accounts including recommendations for resolution.
  • Monitor violations of credit policies, provide analysis, conclusion and recommendations, present findings to the Branch Manager and suggest actions/penalties to be taken when appropriate
  • Develop processes and procedures for evaluating customer financial and setting and changing credit lines/limits, as well as credit holds; implement liens as necessary to major delinquent account as approved
  • Attend to the generated legal documents used in the credit function for onwards preparation of disbursements
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Branch manager from time to time

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Education and experience:                  
Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Marketing, or Advanced Diploma in Banking / Business Administration,  holders of TIOB/CIB Associateship Diploma or related field and 1-year experience in the related field.
