Responsibilities
- Ensure rigging studies are conducted for all lifting activities on the mine.
- Ensure adequate controls are in place for the safe use and movement of lifting equipment on the mine.
- Monitor, plan and maintain all crane wire ropes, rigging and related equipment.
- Ensure adequate maintenance, repair and inspection of all lifting gears and ropes in accordance with statutory provisions.
- Ensure that relevant SOP’s are developed and adhered to for all work activities involving continuous lifting and /or lowering
- Ensure that legal and related registers for all cranes, hoists, scaffolds, ladders, slings, snatch-blocks, lever hoists, ropes and man-cages and all related lifting gears are kept and updated.
- Inspect and certify all lifting gears in accordance with provisions of OSHAS and MHSA
- Clean, measure and dress steel wire ropes and chains used on mobile, electrical overhead travelling or manual lifting equipment.
- Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools.
- Select gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules.
- Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads, in order to ensure safety of workers and materials.
- Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under, and/or around obstacles, using multi-point suspension techniques.
- Develop employees for the positions of Rigger/ Ropesman in accordance with the North Mara succession plan.

Qualification requirements
- Secondary School Education Certificate.
- Must be a qualified Rigger with a Trade Certificate from a recognized institution.
- VETA Driving Certificate.
- Possess a Valid Tanzanian driving licenseclass B, C, D and E
- Able to Drive Manual Transmission/Stick Shift Transmission.
- Sound knowledge of Mining Safety Regulations and best practice.
Experience and competencies needed.
- Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience as a rigger or ropes man
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill competencies in safe lifting techniques, lifting gear selection, determination of weights and mass and crane movement directing.
- Verification of training and experience in operating various industrial machines such as Forklifts, Loaders, Overhead cranes, self-Loading Vehicle Cranes, trucks, mobile cranes etc.
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate the above listed equipment.
- Must have a valid driving license.
- Excellence communication skills in English language
- Must have the ability to operate with minimum supervision.
- High professional conduct at all times and the ability to deal with a diverse client base.

Maintenance Storeman at Barrick

Responsibilities
- Receiving, storing, assembling, packing and/or unpacking of goods. This includes ensuring that goods are not damaged and that everything ordered is present and accounted for.
- Liaising with relevant trades with regard to items required for the completion of tasks
- Ensuring all purchase orders reflect where materials are to be utilized and are approved by the relevant Supervisor.
- Issuing of tools and ensure cleanness of the workshop and surrounding areas.
- Ensure practices are followed to enable the site to remain free of hazards
- Monitoring of current stock levels to decide if more should be ordered, as well as organizing existing inventory, for easy and safe accessibility
- Assisting and performing stock checks
- Ensuring the safety and security of the stock. This takes the form of ensuring that there are adequate security systems in place and enforcing Health and Safety rules. This also includes keeping the store clean and tidy.
- Listens, understands and follows work instructions from the supervisor.
- Ensuring the safe loading and unloading of materials onto vehicles and assisting colleagues in this task where necessary.
Qualification requirements
- Ordinary secondary school education.
- A relevant Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Technician Certificate from a recognized institution.
- A Mechanical Trade Certification is highly desired.
- Practical skills in maintenance practices and engineering knowledge
- Mines Health & Safety Act Awareness.
Experience and Competencies needed
- Experience in working in a similar role, involving work in stores, driving and yard responsibilities for a minimum of two years, or equivalent experience
- Experience with computerized maintenance systems, e.g. SAP, is essential
- Experience in mining industry is essential.
- Possess a valid light vehicle manual-class driving license.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required.
- Ability to consistently manage such a diversified portfolio in a high-pressure environment.

IPT Student at Barrick
Position Description
North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to enroll Industrial Practical Training students for the year 2026 to join our team. The main objective of Industrial Practical Training (IPT) is to contribute towards the human capital development pool in Tanzania. To achieve this, Barrick – North Mara has created opportunities to enroll students from universities and other recognized tertiary institutions to access the industrial practical training for exposure and acquire hands-on skills. Duration for Industrial Practical Training will be only for Eight (8) Weeks.
