Who we are?
Uwezo Tanzania is a registered independent NGO under NGO Act No. 24 of 2002 with registration number 00NGO/R/09001. Uwezo means “capability” in Swahili.
Uwezo’s main function has been to generate data and curate evidence on actual literacy and numeracy competency levels among children aged 4-16 years in a manner that informs the public, stimulates countrywide debate, and creates pressure for policy change from the bottom-up. Uwezo has also used the assessment evidence to experiment and conduct innovative interventions that demonstrate what works to improve learning outcomes especially on literacy and numeracy skill. Among the intervention programs, Uwezo is supporting children who are lagging behind on the foundational literacy and numeracy skills through My Village initiative.

Accountant Intern – Job description Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance and any other related fields from a recognizable institution
-Minimum experience of 6 months performing accounting related functions in any organization.
-Knowledge of computer application software including Microsoft office (word, excel, and PowerPoint)
-Knowledge of accounting software Xero will be an added advantage.
-Flexibility to cope in a new situation,confidence and creative thinking.
-Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in English and Swahili language.
General task: Support Uwezo Tanzania finance unit as guided by the responsible officer and the Executive Director while being proactive to learn for professional development.
Specific tasks:
1. Provide support in recording receipts and payments in Xero accounting software
2. Provide support in budget preparations and review to inform key organization decisions
3. Provide support in preparing various financial reports such as bank reconciliation, donor reports and other cash flow reports
4. Provide support in staff imprest management
5. Provide support in organization assets management
6. Provide support before and during audit of the organization financial records
7. Provide support in communicating with Uwezo stakeholders such as suppliers, Uwezo partners
8. Provide support in compliance to statutory authorities such as TRA,NSSF,WCF by filling and remitting respective taxes and contributions
9. Provide support in organization fundraising initiatives
10. Perform any other related tasks as guided by Supervisor

Research and Innovation Intern – Job description
Qualifications:
-Knowledge on project proposal, research report and field report writing
-Experience and have research skills for assessment tools development, data collections skills, analysis and report writing.
-Flexibility to cope in a new situation, confidence and creative thinking
-Able to facilitate and lead a team
-Knowledge of computer application software including Microsoft office (word, excel, and database)
-Well understanding on research tools including mobile apps like
Kobo collect, Google form, computer application software for both
qualitative and quantitative packages like SPSS, STATA, NVIVO.
-Draft synopsis of funding opportunities to facilitate decision
making on whether to pursue new grant and other external funding
opportunities
-Good English and Swahili speaking and writing skills.
General tasks: Support Uwezo Tanzania activities
as guided by the responsible officer and the Executive Director while
being proactive to learn for professional development.

2. Support in to conduct different training organized by Uwezo Tanzania
3. Monitor data collection process in the field
4. Assist in translation of assessment tools and contextualize the tools to fit expected objectives
5. Support in research report writing process and other field related reports as assigned by the supervisor
6. Set up tablets with mobile apps for data collections
7. Communicate with partners to guide on implementing program as guided by Uwezo Tanzania policy and regulations
8. Review financial retirement report and work report submitted
