Specialist; Settlement Systems

Job Purpose

This role entails provision of technical support, business analysis and settlement for transactions carried out using payment systems. The role entails key system administrator responsibilities of ensuring change request deployments, system patch and release management, and maintaining clean system audit.

 Main Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform installations, upgrades and regular patching of Payments System including; SWIFT, Opics, Sybrin, C-REG, etc.
  • Perform and coordinate regular information system administration such as Health checks, maintenance, and change request deployments.
  • Coordinate identification of business and operational requirements by engaging with respective stakeholders and derive appropriate means of delivering the requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring payment systems comply with the bank’s ICT governance and Frameworks including but not limited to; security framework and operational standards.
  • Coordinate and perform regular business continuity activities which include; system backups, Disaster recovery test runs for payment systems.
  • Coordinate and Facilitate audit sessions for payment systems, provide responses and implement solutions as per audit recommendations.
  • Coordinate and provide end user support for payment system stakeholders including periodic user training and incident support.
  • Preparation of documentation for payment systems such as incidents reports, projects updates and Root cause analysis.
  • Preparation and custodian of technical documentations for payment systems such as; Technical and deployment guides, procedures or releases, system and user guides, solution design/architecture.

 Attributes

  • Strong knowledge of banking and payment systems.
  • Strong knowledge of tools such as Visual Studio, PL/SQL, JAVA, C++, .Net, PHP, etc. and Relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as ORACLE and SQLSERVER.
  • Good knowledge in banking operations and business analysis.
  • Good understanding of bank products and processes
  • Good project management skills; business analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Problem Solving Ability.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Computer science/information and communication technology from a recognized institution.

  • 3 years’ work experience with at least 2 years in Payment systems or ICT.

Main Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing digital sales strategies that further the department’s agenda and drives enhanced revenue generation for the business
  • In partnership with other key stakeholders, create and implement sales action plans that incorporate key actions that work to set KPI’s for the business
  • Drive Retail banking digital sales growth keep and track of the overall performance across the network.
  • Revenue planning and target setting for digital banking, aligning with strategic roadmap and revenue expectations.
  • Understand and monitor basic revenue models and P/L; meet financial objectives by forecasting; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analysing variances, performance reviews and initiating corrective actions.
  • Identify areas of improvement in sales strategies with a view of establishing actionable insights for improving of sales and business profits
  • Work together with Retail Product development unit in creating product intelligence, for example, product/brand adjacencies, conducting trend analysis, and ensuring that these are aligned to support and drive digital sales and conversion.
  • In collaboration with Retail Products, monitor the development of the business products from its conceptualization to testing and launch
  • Work closely with the analytics department in processing relevant data and information, translating it into actionable strategies that drive sales and lead to achievement of targets.
  • Work with the analytics team in undertaking detailed analyses of sales performance for the purpose of reporting sales strategy successes, weaknesses, and opportunities to Retail MANCO, Retail sales and Zone management.
  • Build strong relationships with external stakeholders and customers by ensuring regular interactions with them by attending sales workshops, seminars as well as hosting sales events for the business products
  • Provide sales and service leadership to drive the performance of the branches (process and structure) in joint responsibility with zone for staffing and productivity management.
  • Develop weekly/monthly/annual and sales targets for the department
  • Establish and oversee the adoption of departmental vision and values
  • Accountable for effective resource planning, management, reporting and coordination of projects/initiatives to deliver change in line with availability and business requirements.
  • Design and implement service experience including training field officers (Digital Channel Ambassador and Direct Sales Staff) and Relationship Managers
  • Build and develop high performing teams through embedding performance development culture.
  • Ensure team members own and manage customer queries and complaints by taking ownership and resolving in timely manner. Act as escalation point for their unresolved queries and complaints.

 Main Responsibilities

  • Business and Operational delivery:
  • Oversee the bank’s criminal litigation portfolio countrywide in order to provide awareness to CS&HL
  • Under the guidance of CS&HL, engage directly or with relevant stakeholders/regulatory authorities on assigned pending cases that are either strategic in nature or have a criminal element.
  • Handle in-house disputes that are fraud related and attend court when instructed by the CS&HL.
  • Follow up on staff matters that are criminal in nature and support innocent staff summoned or arraigned in court.
  • Attend to issues on disputes which may arise at branch level in order that all correspondence/demand notes are responded to appropriately (within appropriate timeframe).
  • Support the provision of prompt advice and response, under guidance, from law enforcement organs.
  • Any other tasks as may be assigned by CS&HL.
