Cultural Project Manager

For the second year running, Tanzania is a recipient of the Fonds Equipe France (FEF) – Création, from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This fund is designed to support Tanzanian players in the cultural and creative industries in expanding and internationalizing their activities.

Working within the Department of Cooperation and Cultural Action in Dar es Salaam and in coordination with the cultural team at the Alliance Française in Dar es Salaam, the Cultural Project Manager will be responsible for managing the FEF Création 2024/2025, and for implementing certain components of this project.

Job Description

 In addition to the direct beneficiaries of the FEF Création 2024/2025 project, the Department of Cooperation and Cultural Action in Dar es Salaam will set up a program of debates on ideas, artist mobility funding and one-off support.

  • Setting up the Debates Program:
    • Defining themes, jointly with the SCAC and the Alliance Française de Dar es salaam, and the editorial committee
    • Identification of speakers
    • Organisation of events
    • Budget monitoring of the program
    • Coordination of communication around the events, with the Embassy and Alliance Française communication teams
    • Deliverables: 6 ideas debates to be organized
  • Monitoring the Mobility Program
    • Identification of relevant events, in France or in French-speaking countries, as destinations for Tanzanian artists
    • Selection of beneficiary artists, in conjunction with the SCAC and the Alliance team
    • Administrative organization of the visits
    • Budget monitoring of the program
    • Follow-up of the reports provided by the beneficiaries following the tour
    • Deliverables: 5 Tanzanian artists to have visited key events in France and/or French-speaking countries in Africa and the Indian Ocean.
  • Supervision of the SCAC’s ad hoc Support Program
    • Monitoring Tanzanian cultural news and opportunities for calls for projects in France
    • Receiving external requests
    • Monitoring the support provided
  • Occasional support for the Cultural Attaché

Working Environment 

The Cultural Project Manager will be attached to the SCAC and will work on the French Embassy’s premises. He/she will report to the Cultural Attaché and the Cooperation and Cultural Action Counsellor.

As the FEF Création 2024/2025 is being set up jointly with the Alliance Française de Dar es salaam, he/she will be required to work very frequently with the Alliance teams.

Mobility within the country, in the region and in France is possible, depending on the activities.

Working hours: 8am – 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am – 1.30pm on Fridays.

Evening availability required for certain events.

Qualifications

  • Languages:
    • French: B2
    • English: B2

Knowledge of Swahili, and of cooperation tools used by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is a plus.
