Job Summary

Abt Associates seeks a qualified Communications Specialist to support the Tanzania PS3 Plus project.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collect and compile reports
  • Organize, file and manage all project-related documents
  • Draft official project letters
  • Support PS3+ team leaders in communication and coordination with GOT
  • Draft success stories and take project pictures as necessary
  • Build the capacity of regions and LGAs on communication and reporting
  • Translate various documents from Kiswahili to English and vice-versa
  • Support technical interventions as assigned

 Preferred Skills / Prerequisites

  • Degree in either Social Sciences, Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Administration, or any other related field
  • Experience in administration-related work, such as organizing and filing
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to speak and write in English
  • Good interpersonal skills with experience in networking at national, regional and LGA levels (public sector, private sector, NGOs and local community based organizations)
  • Experience working with international and/or donor organizations
  • Proven written, analytical, presentation and reporting skills and demonstrated computing skills

Finance Assistant / Accountant 



Job Summary

Abt Associates seeks a qualified Accountant to support the Tanzania PS3 Plus project in the areas of budget formulation, financial planning, accounting/budget execution, and management advisory services.

 Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Records expenditures, income, and any other related transactions, in the books of accounts
  • Prepares purchase orders and payment vouchers
  • Supports calculation of payroll and other regular payments with due consideration to deductions (for advances, loans, taxes, etc.)
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Checks petty cash payments and periodically reconciles petty cash balances
  • Ensures that the books of accounts are up to date at all times, orderly, well kept, and readily available for reference and audit, when required
  • Prepares the monthly ROV in accordance with Abt Associates procedures and policies
  • Prepares monthly cash requests, and promptly advises action required to cover estimated costs
  • Ensures that government taxes are paid on time
  • Assists the Finance Manager in the implementation of the internal control system and financial procedures manual of the company
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • (2+) years of experience and high school diploma OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Administrative Assistant / Senior Administrative Officer 


Job Summary

Abt Associates seeks a qualified Senior Administrative Officer to support the Tanzania PS3 Plus project.

 Key Roles and Responsbilities

  • Answer incoming telephone calls, and take detailed messages, including the complete name of the caller and the telephone numbers for returning the calls. Ensure that PS3+ staff receive their messages promptly.
  • Greet all project visitors, request them to sign in (name, time, and who they are visiting), contact the PS3+ project staff member with whom they are meeting. Do not permit any visitors to move unaccompanied around the offices.
  • Compose, distribute and file routine external and internal PS3+ correspondence (including MOHSW, USAID, home office) when needed.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive project phonebooks, both in hardcopy and electronically, with contact information for all frequent business partners in Tanzania and elsewhere. Respond to PS3+ staff requests for contact information.
  • Assist in hotel reservations and/or obtaining travel confirmation for consultants, as requested.
  • Perform photocopying.
  • Carry out or make arrangements for office maintenance tasks and repairs.
  • Assist to supervise the performance of the Security Guard(s), in light of PS3+ security procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation and collating of materials for meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Maintain the daily staff attendance log and make sure that staff sign in and out, indicating where they are going
  • Assist project staff with basic word-processing, computer graphs, and other tasks, as needed.

Preferred Skills / Prerequisites

  • At least 2-4 years of experience in office administration, project asisstance, and other related work.
  • Willing to take initiative and work as a team member on multiple teams.
  • Time management skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or a high school diploma (based on level) and 2-4 years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
