Manager Inventory and OTC: Trade Partners & Dealer Support at Vodacom

Role purpose and Key Responsibilities

Role purpose: 

  • To ensure accurate and timely end-to-end sales processing, including ordering, invoicing, posting, cash collection, cash application, reconciliations, and risk management for trade partners. This is done in accordance with defined operating procedures, policies, compliance, BIG 5 controls, and business partner service level agreements.

  • To ensure accurate and timely end-to-end commission payment processes for indirect channel partners and direct channel employees. This includes accurate calculation of payments, maintaining transactional accounting integrity, commission payment reconciliations, and fulfilling all internal and external reporting requirements. Additionally, it involves correct payment of commissions to dealers, maintaining master data and commission structures, supporting the business in developing new commission structures (limited to feasibility and implementation), and managing financial relationships with dealers, including dispute resolution. All these tasks are performed in accordance with defined operating procedures, policies, compliance, BIG 5 controls, and business partner service level agreements. 

Key accountabilities and decision ownership 

  • Oversee and optimize inventory levels to ensure adequate supply without overstocking
  • Working closely with supply chain and vendors to ensure timely delivery of inventory items.
  • Ensuring that all inventory practices comply with industry regulations and standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with dealers to ensure smooth operations and high satisfaction levels.
  • Ensure accurate and timely calculation and payment of commission
  • Analyze market trends and dealer performance to inform inventory decisions and support strategies
  • Trend analysis of commissions to provide insights for decision making
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency.
  • Lead initiatives to automate and streamline inventory, dealer support, and commission processes
  • Contribute to business planning for the management of the Order to Cash Trade Partners & Dealer Commissions process and staff. 
  • Maintain a strong control environment, ensuring compliance to all relevant Group policies. 
  • Contribute to the strategic vision for world class Order to Cash Trade Partners and Dealer commissions processes.  Ensure this is communicated and agreed by key stakeholders. 
  • Manage the implementation of world Class Order to Cash Trade Partners & Dealer Commissions, working closely with Global Process leaders and other key stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the inventory, dealer support and commissions processes. 
  • Establishing adherence to the Commission Models, Policy, Address breaches in the Order to Cash Trade Partners & Dealer Commissions Policies
  • Work with other departments to ensure all cross-department issues are resolved.  Such as Sales, IT & Billing, Tax compliance, Treasury and cash management.
  • Coaching, developing and establish succession plans for your team. 
  • Establishing, with the team, the key deliverables and ensuring that the team can deliver against these.

  • Graduate, Accountancy qualified
  • CPA (Certified Accountant) or similar qualification
  • BIG 5 Controls, IFRS and local GAAP knowledge.
  • 5-7+years’ experience, ideally within a transactional operational environment; inclusive of at least 3 years leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to integrate the details into a big picture view;
  • End-to-end knowledge of OTC.  
  • Management accountancy, P&L, Balance Sheet and cash flows.  Knowledge of how period end information is used within the organization to drive business decisions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of an organization.
