Position Description

Roster: 6 Weeks On/ 3 Weeks Off,

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure safe work practices, i.e., attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Policies, as well as other relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Keeping track of the site documents including procedures, manuals, and reports in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.
  • Update all required data in Isometrix, AME KPI folders, Update AME SharePoint reports, follow requests and input in OMIS.
  •  Arrange and manage travel arrangements for Department Contractors and visitors.
  • Update and complete requisitions on SAP and initiate payments etc. on the SAP platform.
  • Drive and oversee compliance with Barrick Bulyanhulu Document Control Procedure across departments to ensure all documentation meets formal requirements and required standards.
  • Control access to, and availability of documents to ensure that the correct versions are used.
  • Producing site document status and progress reports to OHS Manager.
  • Conducting periodic site departments documents review and audits to ensure compliance.
  • Manage and oversee inspection reports and site action register so as to ensure hazard control towards journey to zero.
  • Manage and oversee compliance of the ISO45001:2018 OHS system and schedule and participate in Internal, External and certification audits.
  • Manage, update, and oversee the Barrick’s Isometrix system software as the site administrator and ensure site compliance to the system.
  • Communicating to the employees on updated procedures, policies and regulations, changes made to the Barrick SharePoint system and documentation process.
  • Providing training to the employees on how to effectively use the Barrick Isometrix System as a tool of truth for Health and Safety issues, Internal Audits, PTOs’, Inspections, Emergency Drills, Meetings, Risk Assessment and Management as well as General Safety Observations.
  • Prepare department weekly reports, month end reports and quarter reports.
  • Maintain a detailed record of the safety related incidents that is incidents and injuries reports, investigation reports and corrective actions plans.
  • Able to Identify areas of weakness in the organization safety system and developing strategies to improve.

Qualification requirements:  

  • Bachelor / Diploma in Administration, Occupational Health, and Safety or Equivalent. 
  • A Valid Tanzania Driving License
  • ISO Management System Knowledge will added advantage. 

Experience and competencies needed:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years ‘experience in a similar position preferably in Mining Industry, 
  • Management System Certification Bodies added advantage. 

Skills / knowledge requirements:

  • ISO Management System Audit Planning 
  • Hazard identification and Risk assessment 
  • Knowledge of Hazardous Material & Practice
  • Communication, Fluent in written and verbal in English & Swahili
  • Computer literate in MS Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Must have very high levels of confidentiality and be able to meet tight deadlines. 
  • Good work ethics and a strong attitude to safety is an essential requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to work very independently and with very minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the implementation of ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System
  • Lead and influence change whilst developing a positive safety culture.
  • Provide support and guidance to Safety Representatives
  • Conduct On job Coaching and Training to employees on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safe work practices.
  • Demonstrate commitment in the completion of health and safety activities.
  • Timely and accurate completion of Safety daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly report 
  • Conduct scheduled weekly and monthly Safety meetings. 
  • Maintain accuracy information in Management of Change (MOC’s) database. 
  • Participate in review of Standard Operating Procedures 
  • Conduct workplace inspections and audits as required.
  • Assist in incident and accident investigations.
  • Monitor and follow up on incident investigation recommendations to ensure actions are completed and implemented.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Tanzanian Occupational Health and Safety regulations. 
  • Demonstrate commitment in the completion of health and safety activities including standards set for the company.
  • Correct and report safety hazards when observed.
  • Actively support and participate in safety initiatives or training as required.
  • Assisting with facilitation of formal risk assessments.
  • Ability to conduct OHS Incident and Accident Investigation
  • Ability to conduct OHS Hazards Identification and Riska Assessment

Qualifcation Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety management or Equivalent bachelor’s degree. 
  • ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor (Passed Certificate)
  • NEBOSH International General Certificate 
  • Occupational Health and Safety Risk Assessment Certificate 
  • National Occupational Safety and Health Certificate I & II 
  • A Valid Tanzania Driving License

Experience and competencies needed:

  • 3- 5 Years’ Experience in Technical OHS Practice in underground Mining Operation.
  • ISO Management System Internal and External Auditor, preferable ISO 45001:2018

Skills / knowledge requirements:

 

  • Sound knowledge of Regulatory Requirements within Mining Industry Regulations- Occupational Health and Safety, Mining, Explosives, ICMI Code, Environmental Laws, and IFC Occupational Health and safety guidelines. 
  • Computer Skills- MS Office (words, excel, power point)
  • Communication, Fluent in written and verbal in English & Swahili
  • Problem Solving Techniques Certificate (Incident and Accident investigating) ICAM.
  • Formal Training Qualification in Risk Management, Accident Investigations and Occupational Health and Safety. 
  • Workplace OHS Inspections 
  • OHS Monitoring and Performance Evaluation
