INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGIST GRADE II

Educational Qualifications:

By appointment of a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Instructional Systems Design, or other related qualifications from a recognized institution plus commensurate experience in managing Virtual Learning Environments / Learning Management Systems and/or Instructional Technologies. Possession of a one-year postgraduate diploma in a related field will be an added advantage.

Working Experience:

At least two to three years of work experience in the field of Learning Management Systems, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, or Instructional Systems Design.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  1. Ability to integrate systems and databases.
  2. Knowledge and ability to use Learning Management Systems, i.e., Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment (MOODLE) is desirable.
  3. Knowledge of current educational technology practices, theories, and emerging trends and technologies that support teaching and learning.
  4. Ability to work with senior faculty members and senior university administrators.
  5. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, deadline- driven, complex, team-based environment with multiple competing priorities
  6. Ability to prioritize and exercise independent judgement.
  7. Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  8. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Demonstrated ability to initiate and learn new skills.
  11. Accuracy and attention to detail.
  12. Highly experienced and proficient with common desktop applications and learning technologies, such as presentation, multimedia, and web technologies.
  13. Must be able to adapt to several roles: training, consulting, facilitating, and collaborating up, down, and across the institution.

Under the supervision of the Senior Instructional Technologist, and ICT Head of Department, the incumbent shall perform a variety of instructional support services, including instructional technology support to improve student academic achievement, and perform other related work as required or assigned.

Specific Duties

The specific duties shall be as follows:

  1. Assists students by providing a variety of

instructional technology activities, and

by presenting various technology-based instructional materials designed to enhance the learning process.

  1. Assists in the preparation of a variety of technology-based instructional materials and learning aides for individual use, or for small groups of students.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves problems with site software utilized for instructional technology assistance.
  1. Maintains inventory of instructional technology materials.
  2. Assists in supporting students and faculty members in the various learning modalities offered at KCMUCo.
  3. Assists students and faculty members to troubleshoot and resolve issues with MOODLE, system passwords, video creation, and hosting software, and the various College’s approved educational technology solutions.
  • Assists in providing technological assistance to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Works with Subject Matter Experts to implement approved curricula and technology change requests and course revisions.
  1. Assists in administering technology systems, including but not limited to multiple Learning Management Systems and other instructional technology tools.
  2. Assists in conducting regular faculty training on instructional technology tools and services.
  3. Performs any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.

SENIOR PERSONAL SECRETARY GRADE III

Educational Qualifications:

Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Secretarial Studies conducted by the Tanzania Public Service College or any other accredited institution.

Working Experience:

At least one year of working experience after graduation.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  1. Good command of English and Kiswahili grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  2. Good written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Able to be discreet – especially when dealing with confidential information.
  4. Efficiency, organization, and promptness.
  5. Knowledge about advanced software applications.
  6. Administrative experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Typing of both open and confidential letters/ matters.
  2. Taking down dictations where necessary.
  3. Maintaining records of incoming and outgoing correspondences and files while maintaining confidentiality.
  4. Arranging and maintaining records of events including appointments, meetings, and visiting schedules by keeping an updated diary of events to facilitate working schedules of the respective department, Faculty, Directorate, and Institute.
  5. Answering independently routine correspondence such as acknowledgment, and following up outstanding replies.
  6. Maintaining a diary of appointments for the respective College executives, advising them of available time and reminding them of appointments and meetings as requested.
  7. Maintaining proper files, both for important paper documents as well as for electronic ones.

  12. Making arrangements for providing refreshments during meetings or in a regular day’s work.
  13. Making travel arrangements for supervisors, College Executives, and Guests.
  14. Handling office stationery.
  15. Monitoring the mails and faxes.
  16. Helping the immediate supervisor in developing computer presentations.
  17. Assuming responsibility for ensuring that there is adequate efficiency in the day-to-day operation of office functions
  18. Perform other duties as may be assigned by College Authorities

Educational Qualifications:

Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV) with at least four passes including English and Kiswahili, a valid and clean (without accidents) Class ‘C’ driving license, and who has attended a one-year Basic Driving Course or who has passed an Advanced Drivers’ Course Stage I from the National Institute of Transport or any other recognized Institution. Possession of Trade Test Grade lll/National Vocational Technical Award Level 1 (NVA1) in Motor Driving or Motor Vehicle Mechanics/Maintenance and/or Public Service Vehicle(PSV)Driving Certificate of Competency or equivalent, from Vocational Education Training Authority (VETA) or National Institute of Transport(NIT)will be an added advantage.

Working Experience:

At least four(4)years of accident-free driving experience in a similar position.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  1. Working knowledge of the rules and regulations involved in the safe and efficient operation of automotive equipment.
  2. Knowledge of basic automotive maintenance procedures.
  3. Ability to deal effectively and patiently with others.
  4. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Transporting students and staff members.
  2. Fuelling the vehicles.
  3. Keep the assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside.
  4. Maintains accurate, up-to-date records on the trip sheet (log-sheet/logbooks), purpose of trip, mileage, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records that are requested from management.
  5. To ensure that vehicles and components/spare parts are in good condition and to conduct regular check-up/maintenance to ensure roadworthiness of the vehicles.
  6. Report promptly any defects or problems detected in the vehicle.
  7. Ensuring that periodic scheduled vehicle maintenance is completed and reported.
  8. Check the validity of the insurance, TLB, plying fees etc. and report the same to the Transport Officer for necessary action.
  9. Ensuring safe keeping of the vehicle and its tools.
  10. Maintaining disciplined behaviour, smartness, and proper conduct in rendering services.
  11. Fulfilling special requests like picking up and delivering items as directed, and running errands, such as dispatching documents/letters, collecting mail, and photocopying of documents.
  12. Assisting passengers and handicapped customers in and out of the vehicle.
  13. Providing other services as requested by Senior College Officers when not engaged in transportation service.
