Korogwe Rural District (or Korogwe District Council)
is one of the ten districts of Tanga Region in Tanzania. It is bordered to the north by the Lushoto District, to the east by the Mkinga District and the Muheza District, to the South by the Handeni Rural District and the Korogwe Urban District, and to the West by the Kilimanjaro Region. According to the 2012 Tanzania National Census, the population of Korogwe Rural District was 242,038.

The council has an area of ​​3,544 square kilometers of which 1,334 square kilometers or 37.6 percent of the total area is suitable for agriculture. Council area is 12.9 percent of the Tanga Region area which is 27,348 square kilometers.

The population according to the 2012 Population and Housing Census is people 242,038 including 118,544 men and 123,494 women. In 2016 the population is estimated at 264,050 ie 129,325 men and 134,725 women equivalent to an average of 4.5 people per household. The annual population increase due to the Census is 2.2 percent per year.
