 Position: Security Manager
POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The objective of this position is to ensure that Bulyanhulu Gold Mine security strategies, plans and operations are effectively delivered in line with agreed objectives. The Security Manager is responsible for the delivery of all security services at Bulyanhulu to the General Manager (GM). The post is a key member of the Site leadership team.

The post requires strong and imaginative leadership and management. It is a diverse role that requires strong team building and communication skills to ensure that security is effectively applied across the complete site and function operating therein. The Security Manager is the Security lead for all issues on site and is responsible for the security of all staff and assets on site. The successful candidate for this position is expected to align to the Barrick DNA and drive a change within the team and the business.

Work Schedule: (42 Days On: 21 Days Off)
Duration: Permanent
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Security of all Barrick employees and related staff including contractors, and assets including information and the physical site at Bulyanhulu.
  • Leadership and management of the Bulyanhulu Security Department.
  • Maintenance of effective operational security measures that are constantly reviewed to combat emerging threats to Bulyanhulu as detailed in the Bulyanhulu threat assessment.
  • Maintenance and implementation of a comprehensive and up-to-date site security plan for Bulyanhulu.
  • Provision of security advice and joint planning to support mining operations.
  • Provision of security advice and guidance to all departments at Bulyanhulu.
  • Timely communication to all employees of the threat risks and levels.
  • Maintenance and management of the Bulyanhulu Security budget.
  • Maintenance of standards and compliance in line with Barrick policies and international codes of conduct such as VPSHR.
  • Delivery of all mandated formal and ‘on the job’ security training, whether theoretical or practical to ensure that all staff are competent, confident and capable of delivering operational excellence in their roles.
  • Meeting the reporting requirements of Barrick Corporate and Bulyanhulu General Manager whether daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • Providing the lead for the fostering of a security culture that is instilled in all Barrick staff at Bulyanhulu.
  • Design and implementation of effective incident and crisis management formalized in a comprehensive site crisis management plan that is understood and regularly briefed to all staff including its rehearsal.
  • Provide lead in security-related engagement and liaison, both with the community and Tanzanian Police Force and other stakeholders.
  • Support and guidance to the Bulyanhulu Mine Investigations team.
  • A well-functioning and effective security function that is fully integrated and engaged with other departments at Bulyanhulu.
  • A full and thorough understanding of the operating environment, its stakeholders and the threats to Bulyanhulu.
  • The delivery of operational excellence in the execution of the security function across the site that ensures zero security-related fatalities and injuries on site and high standards of governance and compliance.
  • A security culture where Security and their responsibilities are understood by all staff on site.
  • Delivery of quality security training and development.
  • Responsive and proportionate incident management through an integrated operations control room.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • A sound working knowledge of security best practice and legislation affecting the security role.
  • Strong management and leadership skills together with excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and engagement skills.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

Job Tittle:Production Development Trainer

Reporting to: Production FFL

Work Schedule: 42 days on, 21 days off

Duration: 2 Years

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct remote operation in open stope
  • Discuss with Supervisor how to improve operating & cycle efficiency
  •  Monitor & control operating & cycle efficiency
  • Monitor & control loading & cycle efficiency
  •  Coach and mentor trainees on LH307, LH410, LH514 Sandvik Loaders as well as Remote operation
  • Assist with the training and skills development of trainees.
  • To provide technical, practical and field support in various working areas of the mine focusing in increasing work effectiveness and productivity while lowering cost through improved good operational practices
  • Collect drilling consumables & mining instructions
  • Perform pre-use inspection
  •  Develop and train long hole operators in industry best practice.
  •  Develop and train long hole operators in Sandvik automation drilling
  • Foster, mentor and develop current longhole operators improving overall safety and productivity metrics
  • Conduct charging of Blast Holes

Work Schedule: 14 Days Day Shift / 7 Days Off

Duration: Permanent

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop the knowledge, skills and abilities of employees and associated personnel in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  •  Provide support and Assistance to the site for the resolution of safety and environmental issues and champion
  •  Consistent promotion of organizational policies, procedures and objectives and comply with organization safety reporting standards.
  • Ensure compliance to leading indicators and execution of required leadership interaction with departments.
  • Continuously improve the safety and training culture of the site.
  • Ensure site associated personnel receive training and assessments that meet the competency requirements of Bulyanhulu systems.
  •  Deliver compliance to training plan / schedules in collaboration with line management.
  • Co-ordinate and Deliver Mobile Equipment, Drilling and Blasting and any other skills training sessions in line with the Bulyanhulu underground training.
  • Compliance to the Training and Development related standard operating procedures. Complete on the job follow up/field assessments as per the Safety, Environmental, Quality and Training Management Plan.

  • Participate in creating and implementing training programs
  •  Maintain safety & training records (e.g. Trainee lists, site matrix, schedules, attendance sheets).
  •  Coordinate corrective actions generated from; Incidents / Investigation reports, Inspections, Hazard Reports, Safety Meetings
  • Book classrooms and ensure they are properly set-up
  • Prepare and disseminate material (e.g. instructional notes, feedback forms).
  • Act as a point of contact for vendors and participants
  • Handle accounts receivable and ensure invoices are paid
  • Resolve issues as they arise on site
  • Submit reports on training activities and results
  • Recommend improvements or new programs

  • Ensure safe work practices, i.e. attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Follow all electrical and maintenance procedures, and ensure the completion of electrical activities according to standard without causing any further damage to any installation / system / equipment.
  • Ensure electrical equipment isolation, adhere to working at height and confined space standards/ procedures, and conduct pre-start checks/ inspections.
  • Carry out electrical repair and preventative maintenance to maintain electrical installations/equipment in a safe and efficient manner to achieve production and cost targets.
  • Carry out troubleshooting, fault finding and corrective maintenance in order to solve unplanned electrical equipment unavailability events.
  • Ensure that electrical practices result in maximum equipment availability.
  • Utilize work instructions to determine job requirements, including job sheets, quality and quantity of materials/ resources etc.
