TCU Overview:
The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) was established on 1st
July 2005, under the Universities Act (Chapter 346 of the Laws of
Tanzania) to succeed the former Higher Education Accreditation Council
which had been in operation since 1995. It is a body corporate mandated
to recognize, approve, register and accredit Universities operating in
Tanzania, and local or foreign University level programs being offered
by registered higher education institutions.
TCU also coordinates
the proper functioning of all university institutions in Tanzania so as
to foster a harmonized higher education system in the country. In order
to ensure that such a harmonious higher education system does not
compromise institutional peculiarities and autonomy, each University has
the legal right to operate under its own charter.
SOKOINE UNIVERSITY;-The university was named Sokoine
University of Agriculture in honor of then Prime Minister of Tanzania
Edward Moringe Sokoine who died on 1984.
The
following applicants have been selected to join
various degree and non degree programmes for 2020/2021 academic year
which commences on the 23rd November, 2020. Prospective Students are
advised to observe the following:
- The Candidates in a list of multiple selections they should log in their account to confirm to join at Sokoine University of Agriculture before 4th November 2020
- All students are required to participate in a mandatory orientation programme planned to starts on 23, November 2020
- Admitted students should download admission letters through their SUASIS (SUA Student Information System) account (Link = http://suasisuqf.sua.ac.tz). SUASIS can be accessed using the username and password provided to you during application.
- Each student Must upload a recent and high quality passport size photo on their web page before arrival for official use. This must be of the same quality as those used for passports or Identity cards.
MZUMBE UNIVERSITY Find list of applicants selected to join various undergraduate programmes at Mzumbe University in 2020/2021 Academic year.Note that These are initial rounds of selections. Other selected candidates for all Certificate, Diploma and Bachelor Degree programmes will be published in other coming rounds.
Also note that for Bachelor degree applicants with multiple selection, MUST confirm to join Mzumbe University using confirmation codes sent through their phones number and emails.

The
Tanzania Commission for Universities succeeded the former Higher
Education Accreditation Council (HEAC) which was established in 1995
under the Education Act 1995 with a legal mandate to regulate the
establishment and subsequent accreditation of private university
institutions in the country. Being limited only to private universities,
such mandate was considered un favourable for the promotion of a viable
public-private partnership in higher education as stipulated in the
National Higher Education Policy of 1999.
Therefore,
such circumstances prompted the government to establish a harmonized
higher education system in the country which led into the establishment
of the Tanzania Commission for Universities. In order to ensure such a
harmonious higher education system does not compromise institutional
peculiarities and autonomy, each University has the legal right to
operate under its own charter.
The
mandates and core functions of the Commission are provided under
section 5(1) of the Universities Act Cap. 346. These functions can be
clustered into the following three major areas.
