Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) is a fully integrated beverage business in Diageo Africa (supply and demand for beer and spirits). It is a subsidiary of East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL), the largest business unit in Diageo Africa and the second largest listed company on the Nairobi stock exchange. Scope

The role holder will be responsible for serving the engineering and utilities section at the Dar es Salaam plant catering for all engineering spares and fuel needs.

Purpose Of Role

The role is meant to cater for all needs of the utilities/engineering services at the Dar es Salaam plant. The role holder is expected to work hand in hand with the engineers and technicians on site to ensure all their fuel and tools needs are fulfilled and report the same to the Stores Supervisor on site.
Key Accountabilities

  • To receive and issue engineering spares and equipment received at the plant
  • To check materials being received against documentation and report any variances
  • To ensure proper materials storage and handling
  • To receive and issue furnace oil and diesel to the Engineering Department at the plant as requested
  • To ensure stock levels for the fuels (HFO and diesel as well as lubricants) is well maintained at the plant
  • To conduct periodic stock takes as required for all the engineering spares and fuels at the plant.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Must be a holder of a FTC (Full Technician Certificate) from a recognized technical college with sound experience of at least one year
  • Proficient in the use of ERP systems, preferably Tally, Maximo/SAP

Purpose of Role
The Cube operator is required to operate the Process Area of the plant, thus, to prepare blended Spirits according to the recipes and certify as suitable for Packaging
This is ideally an individual with operational, packaging and engineering experience. He/She is responsible for maintaining plant and machinery on shift to carry out packaging activities in order to meet the increasing volume and quality demands in a reliable and cost-effective manner. The holder participates in continuous improvement initiatives such as PIPs in the department & should own the planning and execution of his/her training and development.

Key Accountabilities
  • Commit to Occupational Health and Safety standards. Frequently state and articulate that Safety is our No.1 priority. Be visible as an ambassador for safety by behaving in a safe manner at all times and always challenging unsafe practices and behaviour of others. Adhere strictly to the Cube safety rules and systems and equipment operational procedures.
  • Manage daily operations of Process area according to recipes including deliveries.

  • Demonstrate flexibility in terms of availability, attitude and work practices, and assist colleagues in breakdowns, maintenance and solving problems on their equipment.
  • Actively pursue training and development on an individual and team basis and participate in competency-based training programs. Support other team member development and develop positive relationships with colleagues, including contractors.
  • Compile and commentate the required reports – either original reports or those generated automatically. This includes status sheets, check sheets, condition monitoring sheets, etc.
 
Qualifications and Experience Required
  • A Certificate in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering discipline; with 3 years’ experience in Operations, Maintenance, Process Control and Performance Measurement in a brewery or drinks and/or food manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate detailed understanding of Permit to Work system and SBL SHE policies, statutory requirements and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate understanding of teamwork principles, continuous improvement, preventative maintenance and problem solving.

To implement Cube Plant activities including maintenance so as to deliver target packaged volumes to match sales forecast and ensure packaging quality is maintained at all times

Top Accountabilities

  • Co-ordinate all Cube Plant Processes, activities, products, materials, sundry items, components and services efficiently as well as manage raw material warehouses in such a manner as to avoid waste and pilferage.

Establish robust Management Environment together with the site management team members This position will work within the Finance team contributing towards the outputs/ targets of the department. This position also has responsibility for coaching and mentorship of the team members within the unit.

Purpose of Role:
To provide a dedicated management accounting and performance measurement service to the operations and logistics team involved in the manufacturing of beer and spirits. The supply business comprise of the operations and logistics, and each area has key controls that are necessary to mitigate against financial loss while providing financial visibility on packaging, brewing processes for both beer and spirits as well.

Top Accountabilities

  • Coordinate the monthly and annual stock counts across all stock categories. Ensure that all the stock variances are fully explained.
  • Ensure that all raw materials and components used in the month are issued to process orders within the month.
  • Ensure that the monthly stock variances are approved in line with SOA.
  • Ensure that all stock accounts are fully reconciled to the GL and Physical stocks on monthly basis
  • Monitor the status of stock obsolescence to ensure adequate provision is maintained
  • Help drive delivery of reduced COGS through effective management accounting reviews.
  • Assist and plan development of (Drive out Costs) programmes with site management team.
  • Help drive visibility of costs through effective communication to management and line workers.

Dimensions/ Financial:
Achievement of the overall business plans impacting on COGS by ensuring all maintenance tasks are executed with optimal costs and minimizing quality defects in the final products

Purpose of Role:

  • To plan, organize and direct electrical and instrumentation maintenance around the brewery to ensure production is not interrupted due to electrical or automation problems

Accountabilities
  • Maintain health & safety standards as per Diageo Management Systems.
  • Perform planned equipment preventative maintenance on the electrical and instruments for Brewery
  • Provide process instrumentation and control support.
  • Ensure failures/ problems/ deviations are investigated and root causes identified, verified and corrective action taken according to procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance and resolution when there is electrical or automation problems
  • Back up of equipment program and operation parameters for all machines.

  • Follow up for spares availability, spares orders and follow up on their delivery status.

Context
Purpose of Role:
To provide support to the Managing Director (MD) in the day to day management of their business, this encompasses both administrative and organizational tasks. In addition overseeing the main reception and coordination of all travel & hotel accommodation related requests.
 
Accountabilities:
Office Management
  • Co-ordinating information and business flows as necessary.
  • Arrangement, coordination and management of the MD’s office facilities
Organizational Tasks
  • Manage accessibility to MD’s complex diary – set up relevant arrangements (e.g. meeting room, notifications, bookings, material, etc).
  • Organize and arrange travel itineraries of MD’s, local and overseas, coordinating with counterparts in other locations.
  • Organize conferences, workshops and events at both a Domestic and International level
  • Organize complex meetings and telephone/video conferences domestic and international, taking into account different time zones
 
Communication
  • Build, develop and maintain relationships with key external/internal customers and build cross-functional network within own peer group
  • Ensure fluid communication is maintained with MD at all times especially when travelling.
  • Deal with all queries and forwarding to relevant departments when necessary.
Administrative Tasks
  • Mailing- receiving, sending & distribution
  • Switchboard – receiving & making calls
  • Meeting Rooms Management – booking & tidiness
  • Reception
  • Coordinating travel desk
 
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Qualifications:
  • Certificate in Secretarial / Office Management
  • Secondary school is a prerequisite; A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is highly preferable
Experience:
  • At least 2 years experience in the same role in a large organization
  • Experience with using Microsoft packages, Word, Power Point
  • Ability to work independently, excellent time management,
  • Organized and able to set priorities
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili
  • Flexibility
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information
