About the role
Education Development Trust is inviting expressions of interest from experienced technical experts to join the implementation team of an anticipated six-year programme, Shule Bora, to improve quality, inclusivity, and safety of learning for all 11.5 million children in government pre-primary and primary schools in Tanzania. In addition to providing support to government systems at the national level, Shule Bora will provide additional focused support to an estimated 4.4 million children in 9 regions.
This ambitious programme is designed to achieve 4 specific outcomes:
  • Improve learning outcomes for all children
  • Improve transition rates to secondary school for girls
  • Prevent physical and sexual violence in and around schools
  • Help children with disabilities access quality education pupils

The key positions will be:
  • Technical Leads with demonstrable experience in Systems strengthening/systems reform, Teaching and learning, Gender, Disability or Reducing violence in schools
  • Technical Assistance Leads with significant experience in Systems strengthening/systems reform, Teaching and learning, Gender, Disability or Reducing violence in schools
The ideal candidates will be experienced development professionals in the field of education with strong technical leadership skills and experience in leading collaborative working across large multi-disciplinary teams. They will have experience of working with major government stakeholders and institutional donors, have sound knowledge of the education sector in Tanzania and be fluent in English (additional working knowledge of Swahili would be advantageous). In addition, candidates will have a strong understanding of programme monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) and a strong emphasis on the use of data in education interventions.
