Local Term Appointment (One Hunched and Fifty (150) days, Renewable)
Location: Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania
Hosted by the World Bank, the 2030 Water Resources Group (2030 WRG – www.2030wrg.org) is a public-private- civil society partnership that supports governments and private sector to accelerate reforms with the aim to ensuring sustainable water resources management for the long-term development and economic growth of their countries. 2030 WRG supports this platform to develop, test and scale up imiovations (focusing on financing and governance) in water resources management and development. Results from this work are mapped to three key outcomes – increased financing for irrigation efficiency, reduced water abstractions and improved effectiveness and resiliency of institutions that manage water basins.

2030 WRG Tanzania – Country Coordinator position is based in the Tanzania Country Office with the following responsibilities;
  • Ensuring a functional Multi Stakeholder Platform for Tanzania with key deliverables being: planning and reporting documents (work plan and progress reports); MSP meetings at national level; MSP meeting recom­mendations or decisions widely shared; and MSP governance arrangements documented and widely shared;
  • Stakeholder Management with key deliverables being: a membership database or a basic customer relation­ship management system that records current and potential partner details and tracks meetings held with them, their interests and participation in the MSP.
Selection Criteria and Electronic Applications:
  • The successful candidate should hold a relevant Degree, with minimum 8 year’s* experience developing and managing programmes in the field of water resources or water sendees management in the public, private or civil society sectors;
  • Experience working with and managing key water stakeholders (public, private and civil society; and managing/negotiating their diverse interests) in Tanzania with international experience being an added advan­tage;
  • Either a specialist experience and networks in any one of the 2030 WRG Tanzania key areas of work (basin water resources management, corporate water stewardship, private sector smallholder irrigation financing, public private partnerships); or
  • Generalist or cross disciplinary water management experience and networks plus exposure to more than one of the 2030 WRG areas of work (basin water resources management, corporate water stewardship, private sector irrigation financing, public private partnerships);
  • Solid experience in programme management demonstrated through any of the following: translating ideas into solid actionable concept notes; work planning; budget management; contract management; team manage­ment; and results reporting, excellent English written, oral and presentation communication skills for diverse audiences; and fluency in Swahili.

Job Title: Western Tanzania Regional Manager

What is the opportunity?
Working under the direct supervision of the Water Mission - Tanzania Country Program Director, this position is responsible for applying sound project and program management techniques, engineering principles, and excellent written and verbal communication skills to manage a regional office in Tanzania. This position oversees large, solar powered water projects in multiple locations. The Regional Manager will manage scopes of work, schedules, budgets, water sources, treatment and storage installations, and access points for these large projects. This role will require establishing residence in Kasulu, Tanzania (in the Kigoma region) for a minimum of two years. Given the required location, travel to and from the applicant’s country/location of permanent residence will be provided once per year. A successful Western Tanzania Regional Manager will:
• Study, embrace, advocate, and lead staff to understand and adhere to Water Mission vision, mission, standards, and values in all areas of office and project operations
• Abide by the policies and requirements of the Water Mission Code of Conduct and Staff Policy Manual for Tanzania (a copy available upon request)
• Work in a team environment to provide leadership, direction, and assistance for engineers, technicians, community development staff, administrative personnel, and volunteers
• Prepare written proposals and cost estimates
• Manage multiple simultaneous projects in different locations
• Maintain good communications with Water Mission staff and partner organizations
• Ensure that each portion of the work is executed according to an agreed upon Scope of Work, Design, Schedule and Budget to a best-in-class level of excellence according to WM standards
• Prepare and submit Project Status Reports
• Provide training to other organizations regarding maintenance and operation of solutions
• Provide approval of all program and project related expenses and purchase orders
• Conduct field inspections and site assessments
• Participate in disaster response activities as needed
• Prepare and make presentations to the operations team, strategic partners, donors, and volunteers

What is required?
• Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical or other Engineering field, or Construction Management, Science or Mathematics.
• 7+ years of progressive engineering, including project management experience of large, million dollar engineering projects
• Advanced skills with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with engineering software such as MS Project, AutoCAD, etc.
• Excellent analytical, project management, relationship and conflict resolution, and verbal and written communication skills
• P.E. license preferred

 Post Title: Program Officer – Nutrition (1 position)
Duty Station: Kigoma region
POSITION SUMMARY
The Nutrition Officer will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of nutrition component of a health program in Kigoma. The applicant should be capable of working with the local government, community, and also people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds. Must have very good interpersonal skills, highly motivated, creative, team player with high degree of integrity and must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Work with Program Manager and other team members in coordinating and facilitating implementation of program activities.
  • Work closely with the Local Government Authority, including the Council Multisectoral Nutrition committee and the District Nutrition Officers in planning and implementing nutrition activities in the districts. Provide technical support to the District Nutrition Officers, the district technical teams and other stakeholders implementing the program.
  • Work with council multi-sectoral nutrition steering committees to support nutrition interventions in the respective councils Assist in capacity building of program lower level implemented including community health workers
  • Follow up closely the implementation of activities under the program as scheduled in the plan of action.
  • Prepare and timely submission of monthly, quarterly and annual program reports.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience
The applicant must:
  • Hold a Bachelor degree in Nutrition
  • Have at least 2-3 years working experience in nutrition or related projects/programs.
  • Have experience in community engagement/mobilization and capacity building process.
  • Have experience of working with Government institutions, the local government, civil society organizations and community partners.

About the consultancy:
The consultant will provide administrative and technical support to STEP’s programs through data
entry, data management, data quality verification, data analysis and reporting.
Responsibilities:
Data management
  • To conduct data entry and data quality checking for a range of projects
  • To process camera trap and other photographic data according to existing protocols
  • To ensure all data are stored and backed up appropriately according to storage protocols
  • To prepare and format datasets and keys as required
  • To complete Kiswahili to English and English to Kiswahili translations as required.
Data analysis
  • To conduct analysis for a range of projects using a set list of indicators and outputs for analysis including monthly summary statistics
Reporting
  • To prepare reports for a range of projects using outputs from analysis using existing templates and according to deadlines
  • To hold regular communications with project manager to discuss progress
  • To complete daily timesheet
General
  • To develop and use workplans and calendars for activities
  • To ensure all activities are implemented to a high standard and according to the workplan.
