Job Position: Electrical Technician – System Operator (30 Posts)
Report To: Grid/Off-Grid Substation Engineer/Supervisors
Working Station: Grid/Off-Grid Substations

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Monitoring continuous and reliable flow of electric power supply from generating plants to various places of grid destination and distribution points.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Collect all necessary initial technical data in the daily log sheets and defect register book.
b) Issue permits to works, limitation of access, sanction of test after proper isolation of equipment at switch yard before people start working to ensure highest safety standards are observed and maintained all the times in order to preserve life and property.
c) Maintain close liaison with National Grid Control Centre (NGCC), generating plant stations and other grid substation operators to ensure smooth operation of grid network and restoration of power supply in case of system power failure.
d) Carry out physical inspection of various equipment in substations to ensure faults and other problems are quickly detected, appropriately and timely attended so that continuity of power supply is maintained.
e) Report a day recorded shift events to system control supervisor to ensure the higher authority get informed for record and action.
f) Ensure reliability of power supply to customers, safety of the people and safety of the equipment (i.e., Transformers, Circuit Breakers, Isolators, and compensating equipment such as reactors, capacitors, and SVC etc.)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
 Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized learning Institution.
 Certificate of Secondary School education (Form IV and/or VI).
 Computer knowledge is a must.

Position: Mechanical Technician – 4 Posts
Reports To: Mechanical Engineer
Working Station: Kinyerezi I Gas Plant

POSITION OBJECTIVE
To ensure smooth operation and maintenance of all electromechanical equipment at the plant

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
a) Performing minor and major maintenance, adjustments and repairs on mechanical equipment.
b) Conducting thorough inspection of generating sets and their accessories and report to maintenance Engineer for any defects and carry out remedies.
c) Ensure company safety rules, standards and regulations are adhered to all the time and proper safe guards are established and maintained to protect the interest of the company in relation to the reliability of plants, the safety of personnel and security of the equipment.
d) Carrying out visual inspection of equipment and instruments and to report any faults and defects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

 Ordinary Diploma/Full Technician Certificate in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Technical Institution.
 Secondary Certificate of Form IV and/or VI.
 Minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience in relevant field.

Position: Air Conditioners and Refrigeration Technician – 1 Post
Reports To: Mechanical Engineer
Working Station: Kinyerezi I Gas Plant

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Responsible for carrying out maintenance of chiller plants, refrigerators and air conditions to support power generation activities at the plant.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
a) Execute properly preventive maintenance on HVAC Systems to ensure emergence breakdowns are avoided.
b) Performs all refrigeration and air conditioning duties at the Plant.
c) Also responsible for carrying out installation and testing of new refrigeration system in the power plant.
d) Identify all faults/defects of the chilling and air conditioning equipment and carry out necessary repairs.
e) Continuously advise on the requirement on tools and related equipment focusing in improving efficiency and productivity.
f) Ensure company safety rules, standards and regulations are adhered to all the time and proper safe guards are established and maintained to protect the interest of the company in relation to the reliability of plants, the safety of personnel and security of the equipment.
g) Perform troubleshooting, preventive and predictive maintenance on HVAC Systems.
h) Keeps proper inventory of consumable materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
 Ordinary Technician Diploma/ Full Technician Certificate in Refrigeration and Air condition Engineering from a recognized Technical Institution.
 Secondary Certificate of Form IV and/or VI.
 Minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience in relevant field.

Job Position: Electrical Technician – Transmission Line (02 Posts)
Report To: Regional Manager – Njombe
Working Station: Makambako

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
To ensure that all scheduled activities related to maintenance of transmission lines are carried out effectively and efficiently in order to ensure reliability of power in national grid.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
a) Maintain transmission lines network by conducting routine inspection of all transmission lines to determine and prevents possible faults, eliminate unplanned power outage and ensure reliability of power national grid.
b) Attend all emergency faults occurring in the transmission lines without any delay so as to ensure constant power supply to the grid.
c) Assists Engineer in preparing short and long term plans maintenance schedules.
d) Provide technical support to foremen such that maintenance works are conveniently done in accordance with company standards and instruction.
e) Assist in planning daily maintenance schedules for the transmission lines falling under the respective region transmission Engineer.
f) Prepare periodic transmission lines site works reports within agreed timelines for future reference.
g) Maintain way leaves and demarcations along transmission lines.
h) Conduct rehabilitation of transmission lines in the network.
i) Enhance safety matters in the section to ensure safety to employees, equipment and properties.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 Ordinary Diploma in Electrical/Civil Engineering from recognized learning Institute

Job Position: Electrical Technician – 02 Posts
Report To: Electrical Engineer
Working Station: Kinyerezi I Gas Plant

POSITION OBJECTIVE
Responsible for execution of all electrical maintenance works/activities in the Plant with objective of ensuring smooth operational of power generating equipment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
a) Respond promptly to emergence calls during emergence breakdowns to ensure restoration of fault equipment within minimum time possible.
b) Attend the plant Maintenance works as schedule, keep maintenance records, equipment status updating and submit work reports after repairs or preventive maintenance.
c) Ensure all the control cubicles in control room, relay room and entrance building are locked, free from dust and cobwebs on the outside and inside, also make sure all the equipment in these cubicles are in a good order.
d) Reading and interpreting all drawings and manuals necessary for smooth execution of the plants.
e) Execute properly preventive maintenance of electrical equipment in a planned time to ensure emergence breakdowns are avoided.
f) Responsible for going through the defect book in control room and attend defects recorded in the defect book.
g) Identify all faults/defects of the equipment and carry out necessary repairs.
h) Also responsible for carrying out installation and testing of new electrical equipment.
i) Observe safety regulations when carrying out maintenance duties to ensure no accidents to people and equipment.
j) Maintain and keep in safe custody all equipment and working tools under your jurisdiction

Job Position: Engineer – Control and Instrumentation – 1 Post
Report To: Principal Engineer

POSITION OBJECTIVE
Responsible for managing and execution of all Instrumentation and control maintenance works/activities in the Plant with objective of ensuring smooth operational of power generating equipment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
a) Responsible for designing and developing new control systems, testing, maintaining and modifying existing systems.
b) Responsible for analysing data, troubleshooting for errors and presenting findings in written reports.
c) Managing instrumentation and control operations and maintenances.
d) Respond promptly to emergence calls during emergence breakdowns to ensure restoration
of fault equipment within minimum time possible.
e) Plan and Schedule plant Instrumentation and Control system maintenance works, keep maintenance records, equipment status updating.
f) Prepares specifications for instruments, systems (DCS), instrument data sheets and loop diagrams.
g) Interpretes all drawings and manuals necessary for smooth execution of the plants. This incudes interpreting circuit diagrams and instrument detail design on P&ID’s.
h) Execute properly and write computer software, programs and test procedures.
i) Working collaboratively with planning engineers, maintenance engineers, operation engineers, purchasers and other internal staff to for smooth execution of the power plant.
j) Also responsible for supervising installation and testing of new control and measurement instruments.
k) Calibrating instruments and associated equipment.
l) Observe safety regulations when carrying out maintenance duties to ensure no accidents to people and equipment while ensuring quality work standards.
m) Maintain and keep in safe custody all equipment and working tools under your jurisdiction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

 Bachelor Degree in Instrumentation and Control or Electrical and Electronics Engineering from a recognized University.
 Registered by Engineers Registration Board (ERB)
 Minimum of 1 year experience in the relevant field

a) Maintains transmission lines network by carrying out routine inpesction in accordance with Company standards to ensure continuity of service, reliability power in the national grid.
b) Report any unusual findings along transmission lines.
c) Assist in planning daily maintenance schedules for the transmission lines.
d) Assist to prepare periodic reports on transmission lines site works.
e) Maintain way leaves and demarcations along transmission lines.

POSITION OBJECTIVE
Driving and maintaining the Company vehicles as per Company rules, traffic instructions and regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

a) Operates assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner to ensure safety of the vehicle and passengers.
b) Adhere to Company Transport Policy, Rules and Procedures and maintaining discipline to road traffic laws, rules and signs.
c) Records all routes in a log book in order to monitor fuel consumption.
d) Keeps the assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside.
e) Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, transportation forms, vehicle maintenance, incident reports, accident reports, fuel utilization, vehicle condition reports and other records that are requested by management.
f) Performs minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicle(s) as required.
g) Coordinates the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 Passed Form IV and/or VI Secondary School education.
 Valid Driving License Class C/C1/C2/C3 and/or E.
 Professional Driving Certificate from National Institute of Transport (NIT) & and/or Vocational
Education Training Authority (VETA).
 Trade Test in Automobile Engineering/Mechanics from recognized local institution is an added advantage.
 Minimum of two (2) years of relevant working experience in a reputable organization.
