Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and supervise the daily work and performance of each employee on assigned shift, organize schedules, and assign work activity to achieve team and company objectives safely.
- Together with the teams, achieve shift, daily, weekly, monthly performance targets for respective area by ensuring that tasks are prioritized and planned in a logical, systematic, and cost-effective way to optimize profitability.
- Together with Production team leads, develop budget for factory area with factory Head, finance business partner and manage costs effectively.
- Monitor standards for setting, operating, and maintaining equipment and ensure instructions are adhered to.
- Identify areas where production performance and quality management can be improved and manage the implementation of systems and processes to make improvements.
- Provide technical and process guidance to respective teams.
- Ensure continuous improvement by implementing functional best practices and conducting physical inspections.
- Inspect critical equipment and ensure adherence to minimum standards.
- Supervise factory maintenance needs.
- Work with optimization and maintenance teams to solve problems and promote cross functional engagement & teamwork.
- Identify and monitor Key Performance Indicators to track performance and flag any issues.
Job Requirements:
- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or related field from a recognized Institution.
- 3+ years post experience in a heavy industry environment with at least 2 years in the sugar industry.
- 2+ year’s supervisory experience.
- Computer literacy.
- Good communication skills.

Planning Clerk at Kilombero Sugar
Job Purpose
The successful candidate will manage, distribute and close section work orders using computer program.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide data capture service and general CMMS administration to section planners.
- Generate maintenance reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Monitors work orders by putting work plan on board and marking progress after getting information from responsible personnel.
- Prepares off-crop schedule by collecting work list from responsible users and captures them in system.
- Use, enter and maintain job plans is CMMS job plan library.
- Accurately describe spares requirements to enable material resources planning by inventory team.
- Monitor spares availability to scheduled dates and adjust plans & schedules as required.
- Escalate potential schedule breakers to allow for appropriate intervention.
- Support the implementation of the “Illovo Way of Maintenance” (iAMP) to ensure Illovo is the best in class sugar & downstream producer
- Ensures that all operations are carried out as per the ISO 9001: 2000 Quality Management System at Kilombero Sugar to achieve the quality standards.
- Performs all tasks according to Kilombero Sugar’s Quality, Safety, Health and Environment policies and procedures.

Pan Boiler at Kilombero Sugar
Job Purpose.
The successful candidate will be responsible for Maintenance of Machines and machine parts during off crop and crushing season.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor the vacuum pans operation to concentrate sugar liquor and grow sugar crystals to specified size.
- Able to identify 3 boiling zones in pan boiling and their effects during crystallization process.
- Make sure three boiling systems are used as per Illovo procedure in sugar manufacturing to maximize sugar recovery.
- Know exactly how to prepare quality grains(seeds) using Magma and slurry.
- Perform all Pan boiling tasks according to Kilombero Sugar’s quality, safety, health and environment policies and procedures.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on stop days and off-crop period.
- Control boiling temperature, boiling vacuum, brix and A&B molasses conditioning to optimize pan boiling and crystallization process.
- Monitor boiling cycles, able to do calculations and read graphs.
- Ensure the steam is utilized optimally.
- Ensure Accurately record of pan volume and boil pan to specified levels.
Job Requirement:
- Form IV with experience in sugar boiling A, B & C.
- Able to do calculations and read graphs.
- Completed pan boiling practical +basic fitting.
- Troubleshooting of pan.
- Ensure optimum Production rate.
- Attention to details.
