Job Purpose:
To ensure that the mart operates smoothly and efficiently, providing customers with excellent service and maintaining accurate inventory records. The Shopkeeper’s primary purpose is to promote sales by keeping the store well-stocked, clean, and organized, and to provide a welcoming and friendly environment for customers.
Role and Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers at the store, answering questions about products and services.
- Process customer transactions using a point-of-sale (POS) system, handling cash payments accurately.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring that the store is well-stocked with products and supplies.
- Receive and unpack deliveries of merchandise, checking for accuracy and quality.
- Price and label merchandise, ensuring that prices are accurate and visible to customers.
- Create visually appealing displays of merchandise, promoting sales and attracting customers.
- Keep the store clean and organized, including restocking shelves, sweeping and mopping floors, and cleaning displays and equipment.
- Conduct regular inventory counts to ensure that the store has the necessary stock levels.
- Place orders for merchandise when inventory levels are low, working with vendors to ensure timely delivery.
- Resolve customer complaints and issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure the store operates efficiently and effectively.
- Adhering to health and safety regulations and food handling guidelines.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Ordinary-level school knowledge or equivalent
- Prior experience working in a retail business environment
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
- Basic math skills, with the ability to handle cash and perform basic arithmetic calculations
- Ability to lift up to 25kg and stand for extended periods
- Knowledge of POS systems and basic computer skills. {tablet or smartphone}
- He/she must be a resident of the specific area.
