is seeking to recruit an Underground Mechanical Rebuild Trainer to join Underground Maintenance team. The successful candidate for this position will carry out assigned mechanical tasks within the guidelines of Company Standard Operating Procedures and Best Practice as well as other assigned tasks within the range of competencies.

POSITION : Underground Mechanical Rebuild Trainer

The position will report to the Mobile Maintenance Superintendent. This is a two years fixed contract role, with the work roster being (56) days on (28) days off.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure a healthy and safe working environment for all employees.
  • Maintaining, repairing mechanical issues, diagnostics / Fault Finding and Routine inspection on a variety of UG machines
  • Coordinate activities in the unit and report back to Mobile Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Ensure that mobile equipment is maintained in a safe and cost effective manner.
  • Ensure all Barrick safe work practices are observed, and implemented in the department of responsibility.
  • Ensure the preparation and execution of maintenance plans and schedules on the basis of daily, weekly and monthly mining and ore processing priorities.
  • Supervising, training, developing and nationalization of the maintenance team.
  • End of month reporting of maintenance performance against plan.
  • The quality, cost and timeliness of maintenance activities are critical to the project as a whole.
  • Ensure maintenance costs are kept to, or below assigned budget.
  • Display a sense of urgency to ensure timely repair and maintenance of mine equipment.
  • Contribute to the operations by ensuring that all maintenance activities are planned and completed in a cost effective manner with minimal disruption to ore processing and mining activities.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safe work practices by example and act immediately on any unsafe act or situation observed and monitor standards.
  • Actively promote and foster the development of a pro-active site safety behaviors that makes safety an integral part of all work activities.
  • Identify and rectify/report specific hazards using Job Safety Analysis (JSA) process.
  • Assist with accident/incident investigation and with the induction and training of new employees

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A relevant trade qualification in mechanical or Technician Certificate from a recognized institution.
  • A Mechanical Trade Certification is highly desired.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ Artisanal experience in mechanical fitting and mobile equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrated competencies in the rebuild and servicing of underground mining mobile equipment’s.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with People of diverse cultures and levels.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong Safety Background and ability to drive a Safe working environment and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

POSITION : Safety Officer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting in the implementation of the NMGML Occupational Health and Safety Management System at North Mara Mine.
  • Assisting the implementation of ISO 45001:2018 standard at NMGML.
  • Assisting the Safety First Line Leaders to ensure all North Mara Mine activities comply with the requirements of the Company Safety and Health Standards and any applicable legislative requirements.
  • Providing visible and high level Safety support to all North Mara departments and Business Partners/Contractors to ensure the safe and efficient operation of North Mara Mine operations and associated infrastructure.
  • Assist to maintain the nine element of Barrick Safety & Health Management System at North Mara Mine.
  • Ensure all site equipment’s is being maintained and monitored via a comprehensive system which is transparent and can be audited at any time, e.g. pre-start checks, maintenance scheduling and documented fault reporting and rectification.
  • Actively facilitate the Baseline/Formal Risk Assessment, JHA, FLRA processes and promote a risk management culture at North Mara Mine.
  • Ensure regular safety inspections are conducted within all areas of the mine site including facilities manned by contractors.
  • Assist in accident / incident investigations with the relevant supervisors.
  • Facilitate accident/incident investigations as required by using company approved incident investigation analysis methodologies.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 3 years mining experience.
  • Must be with Underground Operation experience.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

POSITION: Boilermaker

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure team member in the plant adhere to safety regulations and use the correct PPE.
  • Report all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) issues via an incident report.
  • Perform task risk assessments (JHA, FLRA).
  • Ensure the plant operates within acceptable limits and deviations are reported.
  • Adhere to isolation and lock out permits procedures.
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances.
  • Performs high-quality, planned and unplanned repairs of any mechanical equipment in compliance with applicable codes, standards, safety and environment regulation.

  • Fabricate and assemble metal structures and equipment through the use of welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools.
  • Fabricate, weld and install chutes, boxes, pipes, reducers, bends and Y piece.
  • Repair and maintain metal equipment and structures of various sizes.
  • Read and interpret diagrams, sketches and blueprints to determine operations, required materials and timeframes for projects.
  • Apply best maintenance practice on repair of chutes, steel tanks, pipes and steel structures.
  • Apply standard paint on new steel structure and any repair on steel works.
  • Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors.
  • Examine pressure vessels, tanks, chutes, pipes to locate defects such as leaks, weak spots, and defective sections so that they can be repaired.
  • Fabricate, fit, and assemble the structural components of various mechanical systems
  • Perform any task as instructed by report line supervisor.
  • Perform basic mechanical fitting, rubber lining, scaffolding and rigging works as instructed by your supervisor.
  • Clean equipment, using scrapers, wire brushes, and cleaning solvents to ensure equipment or work area remains clean and tidy.
  • Clean, maintain, repair and rebuild mechanical parts, components and equipment as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Conduct regular plant and steel structures inspections.
  • Complete breakdown and preventive maintenance work orders on time, create subsequent notifications, and provide feedback on work performed
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies then organize with supervisor
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Responsible for shift handover at area of responsibility.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Technical/ Vocational School, Apprenticeship training, on-the-job training (FTC, VETA, IMTT Trade Test or its Equivalent).

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 Years practical work experience in maintenance.
  • Process plant maintenance experience on Mills, crushers, conveyors, compressors, pumps, CIL tanks etc.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment.
  • Previous maintenance experience in industrialized plant is beneficial.
  • Experience using multiple welding machines including the arc welder, TIG and MIG.
  • Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

POSITION : ERT Officer

  • Ensure total compliance/adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Follow work schedule to maximize efficiency, taking into consideration roles and responsibilities cooperation with other team members.
  • Respond to incidents, including natural disasters (Fire, Underground and Water Rescue) and assess the situation to determine the level of response required and Assist with any other accident/incident onsite and offsite.
  • Identify all unsafe acts, situations and hazards within ERT training and real emergency.
  • 100% to all fire inspection and rescue, i.e. Ensure fire extinguishers are properly hanged, expiry dates monitored, safety pins are fixed, and seals are not broken.
  • Contribute and support on the weekly training.
  • To make sure, there is no any hazards on the airstrip to make sure the land and takeoff happen on time acceding to the timetable.
  • Training of Emergency Response team members.
  • Lead the Emergency Response team to the rescue event.
  • Provide basic training related to Evacuation Plan, emergency exits, PPEs to employees, contract workers and suppliers.
  • Act as duty officer as part of a 24-hour duty system, responding to emergency situations as they arise
  • Perform and related duties as may be assigned from time to time by supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Fire Warden Rescue training from recognized institute in Tanzania.
  • Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Industrial Fire Training
  • Rescue Certificate III (BG 4, Fire Rescue, Rope Rescue and Road Crash).
  • Shore Water Rescue from a recognized Institution.
  • Evidence on heat tolerance and workload training for consecutive three (3) years.
  • First Aid (Level 1-3).
  • Rope Rescue, Vehicle Rescue, Hazmat, SCBA, and Fire Fighting.
  • Environmental Policy Awareness.
  • Mines Health & Safety Act regulation Awareness.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Underground and Open Pit Mine.
  • Valid Tanzania Driving license.
  • Experience on attending Aviation Activities.
  • Three (3) Years’ experience in Water Body Rescue.
