The Arusha Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (AUWSA) is a legally established entity responsible for the overall operations and management of water supply and sanitation services in Arusha City. It is among of the best Authorities in Tanzania.
The core function of the Authority is to provide clean, portable and wholesome water to Arusha City residence and some part of Arusha and Arumeru Districts, disposal and treatment of waste water from customers connected to the central sewerage system.

In order to attain its vision and mission, AUWSA is seeking to recruit dynamic, experienced, competent and qualified Tanzanians to fill the following vacant posts within the Authority’s establishment.
ARTISAN II (10 POST)
Appointing Authority: Management Committee.
Reports To: Head of Water Network
Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Shall be a holder of a Certificate of Secondary Education;
  • Shall bea a holder of Trade Test III or Level I or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
Nature of Employment: Unspecified Period Contract
 Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • To repair of all water leakages as assigned.
  • To assist repairing of water distribution faults.
  • To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the respective Supervisor.
WATER TECHNICIAN II (2 POST)
Appointing Authority: Management Committee.
Reports To: Head of Construction
Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Shall be a holder of a Certificate of Secondary Education;
  • Shall be a holder of a Ordinary Diploma (NTA 6) in Water Resources Engineering or Full Technician
  • Certificate (FTC) in respective fields from a recognized Institution;
  • The candidate must be computer literate;
Nature of Employment: Unspecified Period Contract
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • To repair all water leakages as they occur. ii. To carryout regular inspection of water pipes. iii.         To inspect water distribution pipelines.  iv. To prepare and keep records of water distribution.
  • To monitor the air valves and wash outs operations.
  • To record daily breakdowns of water distribution system and repaired breakdowns.
  • To carry out flushing of water distribution lines to remove stagnant water and other sediments.
  • To monitor water rationing operation valves.
  • To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the respective Supervisor.
CIVIL TECHNICIAN II (2 POST)
Appointing Authority: Management Committee.
Reports To: Head of Construction
Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Shall be a holder of a Certificate of Secondary Education;
  • Shall be a holder of a Ordinary Diploma (NTA 6) in Civil Engineering or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in respective fields from a recognized Institution;
  • The candidate must be computer literate
Nature of Employment: Unspecified Period Contract
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • To carry out preliminary customer survey and analysis of water works for new connections.
  • To make preliminary investigation of water works for rehabilitation of systems for future development. iii. To carry out data collection, compilation and evaluation of water and sewerage works.
  • To make drawings/sketches of existing and proposed water works, structures andbuildings.
  • To prepare and update water systems maps, customers/ distribution/ collection systems.
  • To assist in the preparation of bill of quantities (BOQ) and estimates for water works. vii. To carryout water and sewerage construction works.
  • To carryout water pipe network and rehabilitation of works/building.
  • To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the respective Supervisor.
SENIOR ENGINEER II (3 POST)
Appointing Authority: Management Committee.
Reports To: Technical Manager
Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Shall be a holder of a Certificate of Secondary Education and Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education;
  • Shall be a holder of a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering from a recognized Institution who has a relevant working experience of at least seven (7) years; Must be registered by the Engineers Registration Board as a Professional Engineer.
Nature of Employment: Unspecified Period Contract
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • To collect, analyze, carry out systems design and prepare procedures for urban water supply network;
  • To carry out technical, economic, social and financial appraisal of proposed projects;
  • To establish technical and economic guidelines for the development of water supply network;
  • To carryout studies to establish demand for water service;
  • To coordinate maintenance and rehabilitation of water network infrastructures;
  • To participate in reviewing submitted designs, tender documents and contract forms;
  • To monitor the performance of contractors;
  • To prepare and maintain periodic progress reports for each contract;
  • To monitor water supply structures;
  • To assess, design and supervise extension of water distribution lines;
  • To perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned by the respective Supervisor.
CUSTOMER SERVICES OFFICER II (1 POST)
Appointing Authority: Management Committee.
Reports To: Head of Customer Services Section
Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Shall be a holder of a Certificate of Secondary Education and Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education;
  • Shall be a holder of a Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma in Business Administration (Marketing), Commerce in Marketing or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
  • The candidate must have ability to speak and possess good writing skills in English and Kiswahili and be proficient in Computer applications.
Nature of Employment: Unspecified Period Contract
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • To identify customers and their needs;
  • To monitor and review business performance;
  • To gather marketing information;
  • To prepare monthly and quarterly complaints handling reports;
  • To conduct market analysis to explore opportunities for better customer services;
  • To ensure that customer’ bills complaints are positively and diligently addressed;
  • To perform other related duties as may be assigned by the respective Supervisor.
QUANTITY SURVEYOR II (1 POST)
Appointing Authority: Management Committee.
Reports To: Technical Manager
Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Shall be a holder of a Certificate of Secondary Education and Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education;
  • Shall be a holder of Bachelor’s degree in Building Economics or its equivalent from a recognized Institution;
  • Must be registered as Quantity Surveyor with Architects and Quantity Surveyors Registration Board.
Nature of Employment: Unspecified Period Contract
 Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Participate in preparation of Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for in-house built projects for water and wastewater works and recommend for construction;
  • Participate in preparation of Cost estimates for in-house built projects;
  • Participate in preparation of Biding Document for in-house built projects for water and wastewater works and recommend for construction;  iv. Collect information and statistics about the price of construction materials for water projects;
  • Participate in reviewing the proposals of various projects submitted by Consultants; vi. Participated in inspections and assessment of the quality of projects executed by the contractors;
  • Participate in reviewing BOQ for water and wastewater projects implemented by private sector and recommend for construction;
  • Participate in analyzing claims raised by contractors in various events during project implementation;
  • Participate in reviewing Interim Payment Certificates (IPC) from the Consultants; and
  • Perform any other duties related to the above as assigned by supervisors.
ICT OFFICER II (1 POST)
Appointing Authority: Management Committee.
Reports To: Head of Customer Services Section
Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Shall be a holder of a Certificate of Secondary Education and Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education;
  • Shall be a holder of a Bachelor degree or Advanced Diploma in ICT related subjects or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
  • Nature of Employment: Unspecified Period Contract
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • To design various computer systems relevant to the Authority
  • To undertake routine maintenance of ICT equipment.
  • To develop websites and social media pages
  • To assist users on generation of their reports.
  • To carryout installations and upgrading of ICT software. vi. To carry out maintenance of ICT hardware and software vii.         To customise business needs and requirements to the application software. viii.      To perform and schedule regular backups.
  • To perform other related duties as may be assigned by the respective Supervisor.
PACKAGE:
All above vacancies carry an attractive competitive salary and remuneration package in accordance with the qualifications, required skills and experience stated in specific vacant post and AUWSA’s Scheme of Service and Salary Structure.
